What causes Fistula-in-Ano?
So many causes are responsible for Fistula-in-Ano out of them a few important are sedentary life style, lack of exercise, irregular and inappropriate diet like taking unwholesome diet, frequent eating habit, consuming junk food, incompatible food, suppression of natural urges like passing of stool and urine.
Prolonged sitting, seating on uneven surface, hard surface and psychological disturbances like anxiety and depression etc. It has been mentioned in earlier classics that, above mentioned causes result in derangement of power of digestion which leads to constipation and in turn to all abdominal disease, hence anorectal disorder also. The leading causes of an anal fistula are blocked anal glands and anal abscesses. Other, much less common, conditions that can cause an anal fistula include:
- Crohn’s disease (an inflammatory disease of the intestine)
- Radiation (treatment for cancer)
- Trauma
- Sexually transmitted diseases
- Tuberculosis
- Diverticulitis(a disease in which small pouches form in the large intestine and become inflamed)
- Cancer
