Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a hereditary disorder. Mainly affecting the rods than cones in retina. No specific treatment is yet available commercially in modern medicine except Vitamin-A supplementation. In Ayurveda retinitis pigmentosa is considered as Kaphavidagdha drishti, Naktandhya, Nakulandhya or Doshandha. Smoking cessation, regular follow up, use of sunglasses and adoption of other light protective methods are beneficial.
