The first principle of managing piles is to suggest the patient to avoid the causes of piles. Entertaining the piles causes will help in recurrence of the disease even if the patient takes the best service from the best doctor from the best hospital of the world.
Specifically the patient must avoid the wrong food habit and life style that include late food, irregular food, heavy dinner, late night dinner, a late night sleep, sleep immediately after dinner, less water, less vegetable and more protein etc. If the patient is biking frequently he should be careful for his piles and spine disease too. Those who are seating (computer personals) or standing(e.g.: traffic police) should be careful to alter their pose and posture on regular intervals. Regular intake of water on every one hour will give a good digestive system. Half stomach food, one fourth water and one fourth open space inside the stomach is advised. Black pepper instead of red chili is advised in the curry. Husk flour instead of polished flour is advised. Papaya and leaves are the vegetable of choice. A morning walk is highly suggested to prevent piles. If the patient has a bleeding in the anus it is highly suggested to go for a tetanus toxic injection immediately.

What are piles (hemorrhoids)?
Piles, also known as hemorrhoids, are swollen veins in the rectum or anus, which cause discomfort, pain, and sometimes bleeding during bowel movements. They can be internal (inside the rectum) or external (outside the anal opening).
What causes piles according to Ayurveda?
Ayurveda identifies poor diet, irregular lifestyle, excessive consumption of spicy or processed foods, and lack of exercise as common causes of piles. The imbalance of the doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) leads to improper digestion, constipation, and ultimately piles.
How does Ayurveda treat piles?
Ayurveda treats piles by addressing the root causes, focusing on balancing the doshas, improving digestion, and providing relief through herbal medications and therapies like Kshara Sutra, Agni karma, and Panchakarma. Lifestyle and dietary modifications are also key parts of the treatment.
What lifestyle changes are recommended for managing piles?
Ayurveda recommends regular intake of water, eating a fiber-rich diet, avoiding heavy dinners and irregular meals, reducing spicy and oily foods, and engaging in physical activities like walking. It also advises avoiding sitting or standing for long periods without breaks.
What are the symptoms of piles?
Symptoms include rectal bleeding, painful bowel movements, itching, discomfort, constipation, and in severe cases, prolapse of the hemorrhoids outside the anus. Chronic piles may also lead to anemia due to excessive blood loss.
What are the different Ayurvedic procedures used for piles treatment?
Ayurvedic treatment for piles includes both medicinal and surgical procedures. Surgical treatments involve Shastra karma (surgery), Kshara karma (application of herbal alkaline paste), Agni karma (cauterization), and RaktaMokshana (bloodletting), all of which are minimally invasive methods to treat advanced piles.
Can piles be treated with Ayurvedic medicines alone?
In the early stages, piles can be managed effectively with Ayurvedic medicines, which include classical and herbo-mineral formulations that promote better digestion, reduce inflammation, and soothe the hemorrhoidal veins. In advanced cases, surgery may be necessary.
What foods should be avoided to prevent piles?
Ayurveda recommends avoiding spicy, oily, and processed foods, as well as meats and refined grains like polished flour (Maida). Instead, consume fiber-rich foods, fresh vegetables (like papaya), and whole grains to prevent constipation and reduce pressure on the veins.
What is Kshara Sutra treatment for piles?
Kshara Sutra is a specialized Ayurvedic procedure that involves the application of a medicated thread to the hemorrhoid, which cuts off its blood supply, leading to shrinkage and eventual healing. This is a minimally invasive, effective method for treating advanced piles.
Are there any home remedies for managing piles?
Yes, Ayurvedic home remedies for piles include consuming warm water, eating high-fiber foods like papaya and leafy vegetables, using black pepper instead of red chili in meals, and engaging in regular exercise like walking. Avoiding constipation and keeping hydrated are key to managing piles at home.
