Nerve disease is considered to be the vitiated vata dosha where as brain is considered to be the seat of kapha. A stroke in the brain is the vitiation of rakta which is equivalent to pitta. That is why brain and nerve diseases are managed with virechana, basti, nasya,abhyanga, swedana etc. The ruksha guna of vata is managed by the abhyanga of oil and swedana(steam bath), the pitta is managed by virechana and the kapha is managed by nasya.
